A SALON is offering free blow dries to NHS staff during the coronavirus outbreak.

O'Brien's Hair and Beauty Salon in Orford is giving the complementary treatments out to all workers who present their NHS staff badges until further notice.

The Orford Lane hairdressers – which celebrates its 40th birthday this year – has already given away a number of blow dries since the offer was introduced on Thursday, March 19.

Owner Lucy O'Brien, whose dad Kevin first opened the salon in 1980, hopes to 'spread a bit of kindness' in the community during the covid-19 pandemic.

She added: "The NHS staff are going out to work knowing they’re going to come into contact with the virus, but they have no other option – it’s their job, they’ve got to do it.

"They’re working so many hours.

"We had a nurse who comes in regularly anyway and said it was such a lovely gesture."
