CREWS tackled a house fire in Burtonwood yesterday evening.

Firefighters were called to Mercer Street shortly after 5.30pm after a blaze broke out in a bedroom of a mid-terrace home.

Two fire engines attended the scene, but all persons were accounted for.

Adjoining properties were also checked in order to make sure that the fire had not spread.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spent around three hours fighting the blaze.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, but it is not believed to have been started deliberately.
