KNUTSFORD’S civic leader is encouraging residents to book onto a life-saving course he attends every year.
It was a full house for Knutsford Community First Responder Trust’s third monthly public Heartstart course of 2020.
The Trust has now trained more than 3,000 Knutsford residents in how to save a life since its first British Heart Foundation Heartstart course in 2003.
Knutsford Mayor, councillor Andrew Malloy, with his son Adam, attended the latest monthly course at Knutsford Methodist Church, along with 20 residents.
KCFRT Heartstart co-ordinator Adrian Rees said: "Councillor Malloy has been participating at our Heartstart course for the last six years.
“Having attended his first course back in 2014, Andrew has religiously attended his yearly refresher course ever since.
“We encourage all attendees to return each year to be updated on any BHF recommended changes on the optimum way to save the life of someone suffering from a cardiac arrest."
Cllr Malloy said: "I attend the course every year to ensure I have the skills required to be able to save the life of anyone suffering from a cardiac arrest.
“There have been many lives saved in Knutsford over the past 17 years by residents who have attended the free Heartstart training, and I encourage you all to book onto the monthly course.
“It is free and lasts only two hours, but you will leave with all the life- saving skills needed to save the life of a cardiac arrest victim in Knutsford.”
