VANDALS who wrecked a daffodil display in Goostrey have come under fire from outraged villagers.

The vandals targeted daffodils coming into bloom and snowdrops and trampled them into the ground.

The heads of daffodils were torn off and left scattered along the footpath and road at the junction of Church Bank and Main road.

The corner opposite St Luke's Church has been an attractive village feature in springtime for decades and is maintained by the parish council.

It has appeared on countless photographs taken by visitors and featured in country magazines over the years.

But this is the first time anyone can remember the area known as ‘Daffodil Corner’ being vandalised in this way.

One resident said: "Whoever did this mindless damage should be arrested and charged with wilful damage.
