MORE than 170 rugby fans filled The Courthouse to raise £5,533 for the Knutsford Young Carers charity.

The event was organised by the Knutsford Rotary Club and starred Bryan Redpath, past captain of the Scotland’s national team, who played in three World Cups, earning more than 60 caps in the process.

Bryan was interviewed by Simon Carin and discussed his early life in the Borders with his twin sister and two brothers. He was keen on all sports, but rugby became his passion, even though others said he was too small. He worked his way via local teams to become a professional and play for his country.

After distinguished career and a total of 12 operations to screw smashed bones together he was forced to retire from the game.

Bryan decided he would give something back to rugby, and became a coach and soon a head coach for teams such as Gloucester, Yorkshire, Sale Sharks and Scotland under 20s.
