A RESPONSE ‘far exceeding’ recent consultations has been put down to Moulton Parish Council’s new eVoting approach.

The council is lobbying residents on where £6,000 of housebuilder funds – allocated to Moulton – should be spent.

For the first time, it is asking parishioners to have their say via their phones or computers, in an online vote.

A shortlist of eight projects was put forward, including an all-weather footpath between School Lane with Honeyvale Gardens, £1,000 of trees adjacent to the MUGA, secure bicycle stands, dog waste bins, additional and updated CCTV on Moulton Park, an armistice bench for VE Day, widening Jack Lane footpath near Purcell Place, and lighting the Holst Gardens to Niddries Lane footpath.

More than 100 residents have already had their say, which the council says is more than in any recent consultations.

The platform was developed in-house, with the printing of leaflets – delivered by volunteers – the council’s only cost.

A council spokesman said they wer not aware of any other parish councils in the country attempting such an exercise on their own. The platform will be reviewed after the vote closes.

Vote online at moultonpc.org.uk by 11pm on Saturday, March 7. You can also vote in person at the councillor surgery at the Traveller’s Rest from 7pm to 7.30pm on Friday, March 6.
