TWO men who were caught driving under the influence along King Street in Knutsford have been fined and disqualified from driving.

In Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 24, Matthew Thurston, of Water Street in Northwich was dealt with for drink driving, while Evan Hills of Mereheath Park, Knutsford, was sentenced for drug driving. Both offences took place on Knutsford’s King Street.

Thurston was pulled over on February 8, and was asked to produce a sample of breath.

The 26-year-old was found to be under the influence of alcohol, with the breathalyser showing he was more than twice the legal limit.

He was fined £300 as well as being ordered to pay costs of £117, and was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 20 months.

The disqualification will be reduced to 20 weeks if he completes a rehabilitation course.

Hills, 18, was caught driving along King Street on November 14 last year while under the influence of cannabis.

After a blood test, Hills was found to have had more than twice the legal limit of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol – a molecule found in cannabis – in his blood.

He was fined £250, ordered to pay costs of £117, and disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.
