HOLMES Chapel Comprehensive School is placing hand cleaning products and advice at hand cleaning stations throughout the school.

The school stressed on its website that the measure was purely precautionary, as it published a Coronavirus update today (Wednesday).

The school said: “We are aware that a number of schools in the region have been taking precautionary action in relation to concerns about students and staff returning to the UK following trips to countries that have been identified as carrying a high risk in relation to the transmission of the Coronavirus (Covid19).

“We are monitoring the situation very closely, and are in contact with teams at Cheshire East Council and Public Health England to ensure we get the very best advice as the situation develops.

“At this stage we are not aware of any specific risks in relation to our school community and we are therefore operating as normal.

“What we are doing is following what is seen as good general advice about infection prevention and control at a time when colds and flu are common.

“We will be promoting good hand hygiene procedures for students, staff and visitors.

“A range of hand cleaning products and advice are being located at hand cleaning stations throughout the school. This is purely a precautionary measure.”
