Motorists are advised to avoid the M53 south of Ellesmere Port after an accident this morning.
M53 Southbound J10 A5117 (Little Stanney) is currently closed after a vehicle hit a barrier casuing an oil leakage across the carriageway.
Highways England say that they have officers at the scene and a maintenance team is working to repair the barrier.
Earlier this morning they reported that there is four miles of slow moving traffic and that motorists heading M53 southbound should allow an extra 35 minutes journey time.
Traffic is being diverted via the entry and exit slips of junction 10.
- As of 2pm, the section of the motorway reamain closed while repairs continue.
