THE huge success of stay and play sessions held in Northwich have seen the group that runs them move into bigger premises.

Organised by Tiny Steps, the sessions provide the opportunities for children with additional needs and their families to enjoy fun activities and games.

The group has seen its popularity grow since the sessions started in April last year, meaning that it has now made the move to Sir John Deane’s leisure centre.

And group members are hoping that the move will allow more families to attend throughout the year.

“The change of venue has been necessary due to the huge success of the sessions, as we now need more space to support all of our families,” said a group spokesperson.

“We are excited for the year ahead and for Tiny steps to keep on growing.

“We hope to reach out to even more families in 2020 and to take a step closer to our goal of opening a sensory room and social cafe in the local area.”

Northwich Guardian:

Tiny Steps was named small charity group of the year at this year’s Community ReAwards

Tiny Steps was founded by Laura and Martin Clifton following the birth of their first born.

She spent the first two weeks of her life in a special care unit, and was later told that she would have life-changing disabilities and would require round the clock care.

They discovered that support groups in the local area were minimal, leaving them feeling isolated, and despite joining a toddler group on once a week at The Russett special school, it became clear that this was not enough.

To achieve its goal of opening a soft play and sensory cafe, Tiny Steps organises regular fundraising events such as the sold out Disco Down with Clint Boon, which will take place at Winnington Park Recreation Club in April.

Tiny Steps, which was named small charity group of the year at this year’s Community ReAwards, holds its stay and play sessions on Saturday’s on a fortnightly basis.
