PEAKS and Plains Housing Trust is to close Winstanley House in Knutsford and the nearby bungalows on Warren Close.

Winstanley House in Northwich Road is a retirement housing complex consisting of 33 flats, which was built in 1975.

Mark Howden, interim chief executive of Peaks and Plains, said on the Trust’s website: "Following an in-depth stock condition survey and first-hand conversations with residents, our Board has agreed on our recommendation to close Winstanley House along with the nearby bungalows on Warren Close.

“The wellbeing of our residents is our priority, and the Trust will provide the necessary resources to support residents to find new suitable and affordable homes.

“As part of this commitment, we’ll be working with our partners at Cheshire East Council to fast-track these tenants on Cheshire Home Choice.

“We will continue to work closely with all residents and their support networks during this period of change and welcome any concerned parties to contact the Trust for more information.”

Peaks and Plains carried out a survey of about half of its homes between September 30 and December 20 to check on their general condition and to see what improvements it needed to plan for in the future.

Peaks and Plains is based in Macclesfield, and is also to close Ivy House in Macclesfield along with the nearby bungalows on Countess Road and Ivy Road.

The Trust said on its website: “We manage over 5,000 homes across East Cheshire and the High Peak and we exist to help improve lives by playing a part in addressing local housing need.

“We are an ambitious, profit for purpose housing provider based in Macclesfield, with over 5,000 homes across Cheshire and the High Peak. Our turnover is around £30 million and we have a team of about 180 staff.

“We play an important role in the communities where we work and pride ourselves on the quality of our homes and the service we provide our customers.

“We have just set out a new Five Year Plan, which commits to being an even better landlord as well as improving our existing homes. Alongside that our plans put home-building and regeneration at the heart of all we do.”
