CANUTE Kids Duathlon will be back this year for another edition of the popular multi-sport event for children, in the grounds of Egerton Youth club.

This will be the fourth year of the CKD, a running and cycling event, and the organisers are hoping for another large turnout from local school children.

“We are delighted that so many children took part last year, and great to see so many come back year on year”, said organiser Vicky McKinnon.

Event chiefs are hoping to better the 120 entries of 2019 this time around.

“It’s great to see that so many children are enjoying the fresh air and exercise, so much better than sitting in front of a screen!

“The event is all about having fun, testing yourself and giving it your best, in a safe environment.”

Vicky added: “If we can inspire one child and one parent to lead a healthier, active life, then we’ve done a good job. The emphasis is on participation and the sense of achievement in reaching a goal.”

Children taking part in the duathlon will need a bike in good working order and a helmet.

“There’s always a great atmosphere, and real, positive energy from the spectators and children alike. Everyone gets clapped across the line.”

The duathlon races will be open to children over five years of age and there will be a fun run option too. All finishers will receive a goody bag and a medal and there will be prizes on offer for the duathlon races.

Duathlon races will cost £12 each (£15 on the day). The fun run will be £6 (£7 on the day).

Save the date: July 5. Registration opens 9.30am. First race starts at 10.30am and the fun run is the last event around noon.
