Jeff Martin said: “We are omnivores, means we have meat and vegetables. It’s natural, you can’t change human anatomy. We are designed to be what we are. If you want to be vegan that’s fine but no matter what you want you can’t change human nature.”

Stu Wallace said: “What the vast majority of you fail to understand is that vegans can protest. Why? Because that is their right. We have freedom of speech. People protest about government, Brexit, immigration, public sector pay cuts etc. And I might disagree with them but that’s their right to do so. You probably get so worked up about it because deep down you know you should be concerned and they’re telling you the embarrassing truth.”

Irene Ann Barlow said: “It’s not just about climate change though, it’s about the way animals are treated to provide meat for people to eat.”

Liam Beauman said: “If I could pick one way that will definitely not turn people vegan it’s this.”

Nikki Flannery said: “If you want to be vegan, crack on, that’s your choice. But you don’t see meat eaters staging protests etc do you?”

Sue Summers said: “I find vegan’s make a lot of noise about the suffering of animals and that’s why they’re vegan. If we all became vegan would animal suffering end? It would not, animal abuse is endemic in every society in every country on the planet. Not eating meat will not change that. If vegan’s really want to make a difference they should be active in preventing, reporting and lobbying against animal cruelty. I ensure the meat I eat is humanely reared, lives a decent life eating appropriate food and is slaughtered sympathetically when possible. I won’t shop in a supermarket that condones Halal or Kosher. I buy direct from farms I trust. If we all did that then food animals might stand a chance of having a good life before they die. If vegans had their way, food chain animals would vanish, along with them would be a downturn in soil, the plant life that they encourage by cropping grass and many other things.”
