A DRIVER has been fined after contravening the one-way system in Minshull Street, Knutsford, this morning (Wednesday).

Police Community Support Officer Chris Pountain and PC Cooke visited the street following complaints about drivers contravening the one-way system.

Drivers who continued to contravene the one-way system in the road were warned at the end of last month that they would be fined and receive penalty points on their driving licence.

The warning came from PCSO Pountain, who found numerous drivers contravening the system on January 30.

PCSO Pountain monitored traffic leaving from Minshull Street, and found 14 drivers contravened the system ‘despite very clear signage’.

He said at the time: “On this occasion a warning was given, but next time it will be three points and a £100 fine.”

The street will continue to be monitored by police.

Minshull Street’s one-way system would be reversed under traffic flow proposals contained in the first part of Knutsford Town Council’s proposed masterplan for the town centre.
