NINE Sir John Deane’s students have secured offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Evelyn Turner, Iiona Reid, Jude Jones, Zach Ball, John Belcher-Heath, Samuel Ketchell, Diyana Nikolova, Patrick Nolan and Wolfstan Doel received the good news following months of intensive preparation and hard work with the support of a specialist Oxbridge team at the college.

Deputy principal Andrew Boden said: “Congratulations to our nine students on securing these highly sought after offers from such prestigious institutions.

“They have each demonstrated huge ambition, commitment and exceptional ability and we wish them every success for the future.”

Students looking to apply to Oxbridge receive specialist support from the college, including carefully managed guidance, workshops and interview training.

Those set for Oxbridge this year are amongst 38 Sir John Deane’s students to receive offers in the last two years.

As well as individual successes, the mathematics and history departments are also celebrating after three students from each department received offers to read those subjects.

In recent weeks, hundreds more students at Sir John Deane’s have received offers from other top UK universities including Sheffield, Warwick, Durham, Manchester and Liverpool.
