A LEISURE centre's play area has been forced to close following substantial damage to a section of roof.
A five metre section of the roof at the Nova, Prestatyn, was damaged during Storm Dennis on Sunday.
As a result, the play area at the Nova has been closed temporarily
Contractors visited the site on Monday, February 17 to inspect the damage and to look at fixing the issue.
A spokesperson from Denbighshire Leisure Ltd said: "The damaged section is located directly above the play area and internal scaffolding will need to be put in place to reach the affected section of the roof and to carry out the repairs as quickly as possible.
"For health and safety reasons the play area will need to remain closed until this work has been completed.
"The remainder of the facilities at the Nova are completely unaffected by this and is fully operational. The swimming timetable is running as normal.
"Denbighshire Leisure Ltd will keep people informed of progress with this work and thank users of the Nova for their understanding and co-operation."
Users of the play area are also being reminded of alternative adventure play facilities at SC2, including Ninja TAG and Junior Ninja TAG, which are accessible to children over 0.9m. Visit www.sc2rhyl.co.uk
