PLANS have been drawn up to build a permanent car showroom in Wilderspool.

The land on Wilderspool Causeway, close to the junction with Gainsborough Road, has been used to sell cars many years.

However developers now want to construct a permanent building rather than the portable units which have been on the land.

The planning documents state: "Given inclement weather and the nature of expected customers, the applicant considers that the main barrier to a long-term leasehold occupation of the site is the absence of permanent accommodation suitable for the sale/display of prestige vintage cars.

"In order to support this aspiration, this application seeks permission for fit for purpose showroom and associated office facilities."
