COMMUNITY stalwart Mike Street has been praised for his efforts after winning an 'Unsung Hero' award.
Cllr Street is a member of Holmes Chapel Parish Council, and won the accolade from Dane Sound Community Radio.
A council spokesman said: "We are proud to congratulate our hard-working councillor Mike Street. This very well deserved award reflects what a huge impact he has on our village.
"He has continued over many years to make Holmes Chapel a better place, whether it be helping organisations or putting up bunting before 6am. Nothing is too much trouble.
"The main reason he deserves this award is for all the things he does for the village and its residents which fall under the radar and most people take for granted.
"As an example of this, our recently vandalised public bench by the library was made safe by Mike within hours hours of it coming to our attention."
