DUST off your running shoes and dig out a fancy dress costume – the famous Moulton Pound the Bounds run returns this May.

Pound the Bounds will take place on Sunday, May 17, taking runners on a 4.2-mile circuit of the village boundary.

With a combination of road, path, cross-country and riverside sections, the race takes in all Moulton has to offer.

The event is one of many organised throughout the year by the Moulton Events Committee.

Alex Ehlen, who sits on the committee and boasts a London Marathon medal, said: “You can run, jog, walk or skip round the course, which is open to anybody who would like to take part. All are welcome.

“This is a great local event and a fun afternoon.”

Pound the Bounds has once again become a popular fixture in the eclectic Moulton Events calendar, having been revived by the committee in 2016 following a lengthy hiatus.

Reinvigorated with increased attendance and fancy dress fun, it celebrates all levels of runner or walker – from record-chasers to fun-runners.

Registration for the event will open at noon on May 17, at The Lion in Main Road.

Entry is £1 on the day, with the event regularly attracting in the region of 100 participants of all abilities.

Categories include ladies, men, under-10s, under-16 girls, under-16 boys, over-60s and the popular fancy dress section.

Rosettes and trophies are up for grabs in all categories, with prizes on offer for the first three finishers – and the first six in the over-60s section.

For wannabe Mo Farahs, the course record is also up for grabs, currently standing at 23 minutes 10 seconds – set way back in 2005.

The route will be fully marshalled, and there will be drinks and first aid stations.

Due to the course including several kissing gates along the route, unfortunately the event is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
