AS Storm Ciara gives way to Storm Dennis this weekend, there is no better time to make sure you’re warm and dry inside – while enjoying a gig.
With mid Cheshire bands making waves within the north west’s music scene, two of the area’s finest exports are on show in the coming days.
Sandwiched in between, you can enjoy some well-known classics as the David Bowie experience comes to Northwich Memorial Court.
Here, we take a look at what’s on this weekend.
Thursday, February 13 – odd gnome presents 1968 at The Salty Dog.
The Cheshire-based riff monsters have been together since 2013, pulling influences from the death of the summer of love and the realisation that everything wasn't quite as 'peaceful' as it could have been.
Drawing influences from Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer and Mountain, 1968 are pushing the older sound into modern ears and using volume to ensure that listeners or spectators are left with the feedback for days.
Fronted by Winsford’s own Jimi Coppack – of Electric Church record store – the band comprises Sam Orr on guitar, Tom Richards on bass, and drummer Dan Amati.
The Salty Dog
Their self-titled EP was released in 2015 to rave reviews, followed by Fortuna Havana in 2017 and debut album Ballads of the Godless the following year.
Their live shows have become legendary, promising ‘full throat-shaking volume’, with the four-piece gracing the Salty Dog stage in Northwich’s High Street this Thursday night.
Support comes from Berlin-based punk rockers ‘Church Of Confidence’, hard-hitting Brummies ‘Vultures’ and emotion rockstars ‘The Wolf Howls When I Say Your Name’.

Friday, February 14 – Bowie Experience at Northwich Memorial Court.
Billed as a spectacular concert celebrating the sound and vision of the legendary David Bowie, this is a must-see for all fans.
Featuring all the hits from A to Ziggy, this latest production continues to amaze audiences with an astounding attention to detail, bringing the golden years of David Bowie to theatres across the globe.
Laurence Knight is David Bowie, off the back of performances at the official 'David Bowie Is…’ exhibition at The V&A London, at The Royal Albert Hall and alongside The Cure, Boney M, Roy Wood and the Boomtown Rats.
With TV appearances on Sky and the BBC the vocalist, actor and multi-instrumentalist is considered the world’s number one Bowie performer.
With a legendary career spanning decades, the late, great Bowie has been recognised as one of the most influential and radical artists to derive from the UK.
‘Bowie Experience’ is the number one celebration of the world’s greatest pop icon and his music - a spectacular concert featuring all of David Bowie’s most memorable hits.
Superfans of beginners, audiences are invited to join this authentic tribute featuring songs including Space Oddity, Starman, Fashion, Life on Mars, China Girl, Rebel Rebel, Golden Years, Modern Love, and Heroes.
So, put on your red shoes and Let’s Dance!

Saturday, February 15 – The Luka State at The Soup Kitchen, Manchester
Formed back in 2013 in Winsford and made up of Conrad Ellis, Sam Bell, Jake Barnabas and Lewis Pusey, The Luka State has earned huge playlist coverage on BBC 6 Music, Radio X and more.
The four-piece set off on a UK-wide tour at the end of January, having released new single ‘Fake News’ on AntiFragile Records.
With support from Urban Theory and Dalmas, the Soup Kitchen gig tips the tour past halfway, with shows in Scotland, Leeds, and the north east under their belts and Liverpool, London and Bristol still to come.
