THE team behind TEDxNorthwich is looking for ‘ideas worth sharing’ as they prepare for this year’s event in July.

The town held its first TEDxNorthwich event last summer, bringing eight inspiring minds to the stage to share their thought-provoking ideas – spanning water pollution to personal fitness, entrepreneurial socialism to education.

Now, the search is on for this year’s speakers and the organisers want to hear from people of all disciplines, subjects, interests and backgrounds ahead of the event on Friday, July 3.

Sam Newey, who organises the event with Hartford businesswoman Catherine Sandland and a team of volunteers, said: “TEDxNorthwich was such a triumph last year that we’re excited to bring it the town for the second time.

Northwich Guardian:

"We’re already in talks with several potential speakers but we welcome people from local community groups, projects and businesses to put themselves forward too.”

TEDx is part of TED, a not-for-profit organisation devoted to spreading ideas in the form of short, powerful talks lasting 18 minutes or less.

TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics, from science to business to global issues, in more than 100 languages.

Sam added: “We really want this year’s speaker applicants to wow us with their big ideas and showcase their passion subjects.”

Ashley Costello was one of the speakers at the first TEDxNorthwich.

Northwich Guardian:

She said: “TEDxNorthwich was an incredibly special experience.

"On the night, the atmosphere was electric and each of the talks sparked lots of discussion among the audience and networking afterwards.

"It’s been one of my career highlights and it was worth the months of practice and preparation that went into it.”

Videos of all of last year’s speakers have been shared to the TEDx Talks online community, meaning their ideas will reach a global audience.

TEDxNorthwich will take place at 6pm on July 3 at Northwich Memorial Court.
