SPONSORS are being sought to help with the costs of the 2020 Holmes Chapel Christmas Market.

The market has been run by Holmes Chapel Partnership since 2012.

Group chairman Hazel Sutcliffe said: "Dorothy Davidson and Phil Hargreaves once again did a splendid job in pulling the market together, but thanks must also go to all the volunteers who helped on the day, to the Co-op and Steven Docker Associates for allowing the market to take place on their premises, the church for the use of St Luke’s Church Hall and the Scouts for their headquarters.

"Thanks also to Laura Wilson for the stage and for providing her talented performers, to the bellringers who rang and the choirs that sang, to Dane Sound Radio and Chris Appleton for

manning the mics, to Santa Claus for turning up in his sleigh – the list is endless.

"Holmes Chapel Partnership has run this event since 2012, and everyone seems to agree

that it is a great asset in bringing the community together at Christmas.

"The Partnership is run by volunteers, who make no money out of this event personally or as an organisation.

"We do it because we believe in the positive power of a cohesive community; we want to ensure old and young, long-established and more recently arrived residents all have the possibility to mix and make contacts and feel as though they belong.

"We are already looking towards December 6, 2020. As this is a community event it is also your event, so if there is something you think you would like to do, a suggestion you would like to make that you think would improve the market, we would like to hear it.

"We would also like to hear from businesses in Holmes Chapel to involve them more closely, especially those who feel they could offer some sponsorship to help offset our expenses – the lighting, the stage, the stalls – or for example to enable us to afford a brass band to perform for us."
