THE jewel of Knutsford Music Festival is set to shine brightly with three nights of fantastic folk being the centre of this year’s festival line-up.

BBC Radio 2 and 6 presenter and Knutsford local Mark Radcliffe has teamed up with Knutsford Town Council for the third year to organise three more incredible nights featuring the cream of the crop of the British folk scene.

A folk night is on offer each of the three days of the festival which runs from Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 14.

Friday and Sunday’s folk nights will be hosted at Knutsford Little Theatre, the original home of Folk at the Theatre, with the Saturday night being moved to St John’s Church to allow for a bigger audience at the star event.

Mark Radcliffe initially brought the idea of curating three folk nights to the town council in 2018, running the first three nights in the 2018 music festival.

Since its launch Folk at the Theatre has become extremely popular and a clear highlight of the festival weekend.

On Friday, June 12 folk fans will be treated to music from Cardiff-based Zervas and Pepper with support from The Dorman Long, a local duo based in Stockport.

Sunday, June 14 will feature The Breath, a Manchester-based duo with support from local performer Sam Lyon who has performed at the festival in 2018 and 2019.

The headline night will take place on Saturday, June 13 featuring superstar of the British folk scene and multiple time Radio 2 Folk Awards winner Kate Rusby, supported by Young Folk Awards nominee Amelia Coburn, who played at the festival in 2018.

The Saturday show has been moved to St John’s Church, which has a bigger capacity than Knutsford Little Theatre to offer extra space for people to attend the very special headline night.

Mark Radcliffe, curator and host of the folk nights, said: “Once again I'm thrilled to be able to bring the cream of British folk talent to my adopted home town, for what I know will be three wonderful nights.

"Manchester's The Breath feature the current Radio 2 Folk Awards singer of the year in Riognach Connolly, and Zervas and Pepper are coming from Cardiff for a night of blissful West Coast harmony.

"In addition, we have superb support from Amelia Coburn, whose previous set for us in 2018 was cut short by illness, as well as Stockport-based duo The Dorman Long and our very own Sam Lyon.

"Plus, our big news is that we have been able to secure the services of one of the scene's true stars Kate Rusby to perform at St John's on the Saturday night. I am truly proud of what we have on offer. Come along to all three nights if you can."
