WILMSLOW Sustainable Market is returning for its third and biggest outing yet.

Taking place at Wilmslow United Reformed Church on Chapel Lane on Saturday, February 1 from 1pm, the market will host 20 stallholders, including a range of local businesses and organisations passionate about helping people live more sustainable lives.

The organisers, Lisa Johnson of LJ Natural and Maya Winter from ENJO UK, said: “We have listened carefully to feedback and are delighted to announce more sustainable food stallholders.

“Conversations with market-goers suggest people want easier access to food grown locally or using local ingredients, with less additives and more nutritional content.

“We are delighted the Wilmslow Food Group will be at the market with a range of responsibly-sourced nuts, seeds, oats, lentils and pasta for you to purchase on the day, so please remember your reusable containers.

“Loose fruit and vegetables were also requested, we have a local farm which offers locally-grown, seasonal vegetable boxes, you can chat to them and arrange regular veg box deliveries straight to your door.

“We also have a couple of delicious, sustainable treats for those of you with a sweet tooth.”

Maya said: “We have a range of stalls offering beautiful second-hand, upcycled and reusable homeware, crafts and books.”

“To help reduce the 300,000 tonnes of used clothing going into landfill every year (according to Wrap, the waste charity), we are also offering the opportunity to bring any clothes in need of mending or adjusting to a talented local seamstress who can talk you through her offering.

“There will be the opportunity to talk to a local energy firm who can advise on how you can reduce your carbon footprint through a greener and cleaner source of power.”

“We are also trialling a Toy Swap where children can exchange their old toys for new (to them).

“We hope this will help encourage children to part with toys they no longer play with and make use of ones that may have otherwise ended in landfill. We hope this can become a regular feature.”
