FOUR men have been arrested after police were called to a "violent incident" in Tonge Fold, Bolton.

A man in his 20s suffered serious injures and head injuries following a "serious assault" in Clarendon Road, near the junction with Hind Street, shortly before 3am yesterday.

The victim was taken to hospital. Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Four men – two aged 23, one aged 26 and one aged 32 — have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They all remain in custody for questioning.

One of the men arrested received a number of stab wounds which are not believed to be life-threatening, and was been taken to hospital for medical treatment prior to being taken to custody.

Police enquiries are ongoing and detectives have appealed for witnesses following the incident.

Detective Inspector Andy Fallows, of Greater Manchester Police’s Bolton district, said: “This was a violent incident which has left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

“Although we have made arrests, our enquiries are very much ongoing and I would ask anyone who may have seen anything or has any information that may assist with our enquiries, to please get in touch with our officers."
