AN unlicensed driver has been summonsed to court after his car burst into flames on the M6 near Knutsford.

North West Motorway Police officers attended reports of a car on fire this afternoon, Saturday.

While assisting the driver, who was uninjured, officers discovered he had no insurance and just a provisional licence.

A spokesman said: "Patrols attended reports of a vehicle bursting into flames on the M6 near Knutsford.

"This vehicle which had just been purchased had its turbo blow in style.

"MS31 assisting the uninjured driver to sort recovery finds out he has no insurance, and hands over a provisional licence.

"Summonsed to court and vehicle recovered for him."
