TREE surgeon Myles Dobell is to take down a large conifer tree at the front of a Scout HQ as part of planned improvements at the building.

The conifer is between 50 and 60 feet in height, and is to be removed by Myles, from Over Peover, and his team from Dobell’s Tree Surgery, free of charge.

The tree is at the front of the headquarters of the 2nd Knutsford Scout Group in Manor Crescent, Knutsford.

David Hogg, a member of the committee, said: “Our HQ on Manor Park has a large tree growing at the front of the building which obstructs parking and light to the building.

“This ties in with a project whereby we are applying for financial support from Knutsford Town Council to have the ground at the front of the building smoothed out and a ramp built to enable better access for all to the building.

Knutsford Guardian:

“We have had a kind local tree surgeon volunteer to remove the tree and stump free of charge.”

2nd Knutsford Scouts is asking for £1,500 from the town council towards the cost of landscaping and generally improving the front of its headquarters.

A report to next Monday’s meeting of the council’s finance committee said: “The project involves the felling of an overgrown conifer, resurfacing the driveway and installing a ramp and handrail.

"The total project cost is £2,500, and they are using £1,000 of their own funds.”

The committee is also to consider a grant application from Knutsford in Bloom for £1,500 towards its annual running costs for 2020.

The costs are to cover general administration, planting costs, new signage for planters (which will note the town council’s funding/support) and repairs to the planters outside the Curzon cinema.

The group is using £1,085 of its own funds towards the total costs of £2,585.
