FIREFIGHTERS spent five hours tackling a fire at the Piccolino restaurant in Alderley Edge last night (Thursday).

Three fire engines and a hydraulic platform were called out at about 6.40pm to a fire in the roof space of the building.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Wilmslow were first in attendance and quickly gained control of the fire and with the support of other fire engines extinguished the fire.

“Fire damage was limited to the building where the fire started. While fighting the fire crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet and two hose reels.
