IT has been another busy year in Knutsford, with the Guardian bringing you thousands of news stories, events and announcements over the past 12 months.

In January, travellers pitched up on Booths car park, while The Swan and Premier Inn at Bucklow Hill was put up for sale.

February saw a terrifying armed robbery at Parkgate Co-op, while burglars also targeted Lower Moss Wood wildlife hospital.

In March, Harry Styles made headlines in his home town as he returned to his favourite Holmes Chapel Chinese restaurant – Fortune City. Then-Macclesfield Town boss Sol Campbell also made an appearance.

A bitter battle over 60 King Street was the talk of the town in April, with La Belle Epoque forfeiting the lease.

May saw a community dispute over popular coffee van Tatton Perk, after it lost a trading licence for Moorside.

Four bikers were stabbed in a dispute at Knutsford’s M6 service station in June, while July saw another Parkgate Co-op robbery and a ‘mini-tornado’ near Mobberley.

Chilli Banana Thai restaurant announced its closure in August after two years in King Street.

In September Highways England announced that a £43m upgrade of the Tabley Roundabout at junction 19 of the M6 was set to start in spring 2020.

The scheme will include filter lanes and a new roundabout crossing.

A JCB was used to ram-raid a Holmes Chapel shop in October. Cash was stolen from the ATM outside the post office in the early morning robbery.

November saw Northern issue a warning to students allegedly fare-dodging en route to schools and colleges along the Mid Cheshire Line.

And 2019 has ended on a tragic note, with the death of Holmes Chapel schoolboy Alex Rodda, 15. Tributes have been paid after his body was found in Ashley on December 13.

Matthew Mason, 18, from Ollerton, has been charged with murder.
