GREASE is definitely the word on everyone’s lips at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School after a hit production of the musical.

Assistant headteacher Phil Redford said: “A massive thank you to everyone who was involved in the whole school production of Grease.

“Staying true to our school name we staged a truly ‘comprehensive’ production, with students from each year group and each house and contributing to the show.

“Rehearsals have involved our young people giving up their own time over lunchtimes, after school and even weekends to bring this show to you, really showing their mutual love for performance.

“The students, as always, come together as a close-knit family when presented with a project of this nature, and have delighted in proving to me that this year ‘Grease is the Word.’

“I am delighted that carers and parents at Holmes Chapel continue to celebrate the talents of our young people and support them as they demonstrate their commitment to the arts. Well done to everyone involved.”

Headteacher Denis Oliver said: "The school’s production of Grease has been an outstanding success in all its aspects.

Mr Redford has led his core team of Miss Simpson, Mr Lawson, Mrs Goulding, Miss Plant, Mrs Bradney, Miss Sim and Miss Wimbush in producing something truly wonderful which has captured the imagination of the whole school community and, on Tuesday, many from the wider community of Holmes Chapel and district.

"There was so much remarkable about the performances and the long journey from the auditions in early autumn.

"The quality of each of the five performances was outstanding. The number of students and staff involved in making them the success that they were was measured in hundreds, reinforcing the strong family ethos of the school.

"The camaraderie between students of all ages, as they supported each other, was incredibly heartening. Friendships developed between students who had previously had only passing acquaintances with each other. The whole experience has greatly enhanced our feeling of togetherness and positivity."
