A WOMAN was left with head and neck injuries following a crash in Blackburn Road.

The incident happened at around 7.40pm yesterday on the corner of Blackburn Road and Draycott Street close to the Taiyabah Mosque.

It left long queues of traffic after police closed the road.

Officers have now confirmed that the crash involved two cars and that the injured woman - described as being in her 40s - was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A spokesman for GMP told The Bolton News: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on Draycott Street shortly after 7.35pm last night (Tuesday).

"Both cars remained at the scene and a woman in one of the vehicles was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering minor injuries.

"No one has been arrested."

A spokesman for the ambulance service added: "We treated a female patient in her 40s for head and neck injuries and she was taken to hospital."

The road was closed until around 8.20pm and witnesses described being stuck in "static" traffic until the area was cleared.
