PROFESSIONAL drummer Elliott Henshaw returned to his old school to give a demonstration of his skills to pupils.

Elliott visited Ashdene Primary School in Wilmslow, which he attended between 1980 and 1986, with his drum kit, and gave a demonstration to pupils from years 2,3 and 6.

Elliott was in town performing the same night at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester with The Definitive Ratpack Christmas Show.

The pupils enjoyed seeing him demonstrate his abilities on the drums and talk about the different instruments that make up a drum kit.

When Elliott attended Ashdene he began playing the violin. He then moved on to Wilmslow County High School where he took up the saxophone and started playing the bugle in the Alderley District Scout Band.

At 13 he began playing the drums, which became his real passion and went on to study a degree in Band Musicianship at Salford University before turning professional.

While playing for the Salford University Big Band he twice won the BBC Radio 2 Big Band Drummer of the Year Award.

He has toured all over the world with artists including Leo Sayer, Shirley Bassey, Tony Christie and Phil Collins.

Elliott has appeared on television many times and has been involved in more than 20 West End shows in London, where he now lives.

You can hear him on the new Christmas album by sports commentator Chris Kamara, and Elliott also has two albums out by his band Spice Fusion. For more info go to spicefusion.co.uk or elliotthenshaw.com
