ST CROSS Church is opening its doors on Saturday, December 21, for people who may need a quiet place offering the opportunity for reflection.

A church spokesman said: “Do you find the build-up to Christmas a busy time? Are your fraught, or worried about something this Christmas time?

“St Cross will be open from 2pm to 4.30pm on December 21. You may not be a churchgoer or religious but might just need a few minutes of peace and quiet.

“Many cathedrals are reporting that more people just want to use a cathedral for a quiet place to reflect.

“St Cross may not be a cathedral, but it is your local church and that is why we are opening our doors.

“You may just want to light a candle for yourself, for a loved one or for a particular worry. You can drop in for as long or as little as you would like.”

St Cross hosted a quiz at the Builders Arms on Mobberley Road on December 5.

The quiz was to raise funds for CRISIS, a charity supporting the homeless.

A church spokesman said: “All the quiz questions were related to Christmas and it was great fun.

“It was good that members of the wider community were able to come and support this good cause.

“Thanks go to Allison one of our readers for organising this, and devising the quiz.”
