A MAN died following a house fire in Kendal at the weekend.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) said three appliances - two from Kendal and one from Staveley - were called out to a blaze on Stainbank Road, with one person reported to still be inside the property.
On arrival a small fire in the living room had burnt itself out and one male was found deceased.
Specialist fire investigators are conducting an investigation into the cause with support from Cumbria Police. The circumstances are not thought to be suspicious at this time.
The spokesman said Cumbria FRS would be active in the local area over the next few days to offer support and conduct 'safe and well' visits in the local community, with 0800 358 4777 the number to call for further information.
He added: "Our thoughts are with the gentleman’s family, friends and neighbours at this sad time."
