A MYSTERY ‘artist’ from Castle has gone bananas by recreating a famous art exhibit a local bus stop.
The art installation appeared on Chester Road this morning and is almost an exact replica to an exhibit which sold for £91,000 last week.
That particular piece, entitled Comedian, was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and was on display in the international gallery Perrotin at Art Basel, Miami.
Three collectors bought the limited-edition artworks, one of which was subsequently pulled off the wall and eaten by fellow artist David Datuna.
Despite initial anger, the banana was quickly replaced and given a police guard to prevent it from happening again.
The identity of the mystery Castle ‘artist’ is unknown at present, and the artwork is sure to ‘split’ opinion.
