SCORES of shops will be opening their doors this evening in Knutsford town centre to welcome the festive season and showcase the top quality businesses and customer service the town is famous for.

About 60 shops are taking part in the late-night shopping event, which runs from 5pm to 8pm and includes entertainment to get everyone in the mood for Christmas.

Your favourite shops will be open with mince pies, mulled wine, fizz, tastings and promotions.

Father Christmas will be at Hal Whittaker with a small gift for each child between 5pm and 7pm.

Mereside Brass at Tesco in Northwich last weekend

Local choir Knutsford Beats will be singing in Cotton Shop Yard in King Street at 5.30pm and 7.30pm, and Mereside Brass will be performing carols at 7pm near Waterstones.

In addition there will be Christmas songs from Abigail Chetham at Knutsford Market Hall from 6pm.

With any purchase shoppers will be given a raffle ticket, with prizes including dinner, bed and breakfast at any Flat Cap Hotel.

The raffle will be drawn by Knutsford Mayor Cllr Andrew Malloy at The Courthouse from 8pm.

Town centre manager Sandra Curties said: "Our late-night shopping event represents all that is great about our quirky town of Knutsford.

"We are urging residents and visitors alike to pop into town and enjoy a lovely, local, festive shopping experience; Knutsford is the place to be this evening."
