LOWER Peover Primary School is looking to install new internal security doors to improve site security at the school.

Planning approval for the work is being sought from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

A report by AHR Building Consultancy accompanying the application said: “The proposed works requested by the school are required to improve the safeguarding of the pupils and the staff.

“The current situation poses a threat to the staff and pupils due to the ease of access into the school buildings, consisting of classrooms, toilets and staff rooms.

“To satisfy the client’s brief it is thought the best way to create the new lobby will be to install a set of internal access security doors in the main corridor leading from the lobby and reception area into the rest of the school.

“The installation of these internal security doors will create a much more safe and secure environment for the pupils and staff when at school.

“The proposals are respectful of the area and not thought to have an impact on the local surroundings or nature of the site.

“All proposals have been agreed with the school and governors and they are happy with the proposal.

“The appearance of the new doors will be to match the existing doors on site; this will comprise painted timber frames and door panels.”
