CHAPEL Lane Business Group in Wilmslow has thanked the community for its support in helping the group win an Outstanding accolade in the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood awards.

Julie Dawn Potts, who headed up the group’s entry in the competition, said: “'I made a plan and set about putting it into action, and also tried to get as many local people as possible involved with planting, weeding and litter picking.

“So huge thanks to those of you within this great community who gave up your time and donated a wide variety of items to help me so I could get out and make horticultural improvements and promote our lovely little area of Wilmslow.

“I'm thrilled that all the hours of voluntary work have paid off.”

Chapel Lane was transformed with a series of planters and a Pocket Garden which was designed by Julie, who thanked the Alps Plus group at Wilmslow High School and the craft club at St Anne’s Fulshaw Primary School for their help.

Wilmslow in Bloom is staging a fundraising event on Wednesday, December 4, at 3pm at Chapelwood in Wilmslow.

Tickets are £15, and the event features a Christmas-themed floral demonstration by Chelsea Flowers of Chapel Lane, mince pies, mulled wine and a raffle draw.
