A MAN was evacuated by stretcher yesterday after injuring his knee on a footpath leading away from Helvellyn.
After finding himself unable to continue, he and his partner alerted a passer-by who contacted Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team.
The man was treated at the scene and then evacuated by stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
The rescue lasted two hours and involved 20 team members.
