EMERGENCY services were called out to attend a crash on the M6 involving two heavy goods vehicles this morning, Friday.
The accident happened shortly before 7.30am on the southbound carriageway between junction 18 for Middlewich and Holmes Chapel and junction 17 for Sandbach.
Four fire engines attended the incident from Holmes Chapel, Middlewich, Crewe and Sandbach fire stations.
On arrival, the crews discovered that the collision involved two HGVs and that no-one was trapped inside either of them.
Firefighters fended off lanes one and two of the motorway as emergency services worked at the scene.
They also gave first aid to a man who had been involved in the collision and used absorbent pads to soak up engine fluids that had leaked from one of the HGVs.
In addition, they checked the engine's temperature with a thermal imaging camera to make sure that it was safe.
The injured man was handed over to the care of paramedics and fire crews were in attendance for approximately two hours.
Police and Highways England were also in attendance.
