THE decline in insects is set to have “profound consequences for all life on earth” warned the author of a new report.

‘Insect Declines and Why They Matter’, by biology professor Dave Goulson, concludes that terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems will collapse if this decline is not halted, with a heavy impact on human wellbeing.

Cumbria Wildlife Trust has undertaken various projects to tackle this problem. For example: the white-faced darter dragonfly was introduced to Drumburgh Moss Nature Reserve, north Cumbria, earlier this year.
