A PORSCHE for the weekend, a bottle of whiskey signed by Boris Johnson and a Manchester United shirt signed by Marcus Rashford are among the great prizes being drawn on Saturday at a Wilmslow pub.

The raffle prizes were donated to boost the total raised by a sleep-out on Saturday by Roy Parrish and fellow regulars at The Carters Arms, where the raffle will be drawn at 7.30pm.

Roy and his friends slept outside Barclays Bank in Grove Street from Saturday night into Sunday morning to raise awareness of the plight of people on the streets and support Manchester-based charity Mustard Tree.

This was the third time Roy has helped support the charity after raising more than £1,400 last year with a sleep-out outside Barclays, and donating 14 sleeping bags.

Roy is regional manager at Housing Hand, a guarantor service for students and working professionals, and in 2017 raised £155, which was matched by his company, and bought 28 winter sleeping bags at a substantially reduced price for Mustard Tree.

This year’s event has raised between £2,500 and £3,000, and the raffle prizes include tickets for music festivals in 2020 in this country, Portugal and Malta, vouchers and a gift set from Famous Henry’s barber shop in Wilmslow, hampers from Sainsbury’s and Lakeside, and flowers from Norcutts and Wilmslow Garden Centre.

The total raised includes £450 donated by the Duke of Connaught Lodge.

“People were very generous, and a lot of turned up to support us and donate money on what was a really cold night,” said Roy.
