A 'WARM and friendly' Witton Street volunteer has been hailed an unsung hero by a national charity.

Liam Leach, who has volunteered for nine years at the Sue Ryder shop in the town centre, was among 150 people nominated for the healthcare charity's prestigious awards earlier in November.

The awards aim to celebrate volunteers’ commitment and achievements, recognising those who have gone the extra mile and made an outstanding contribution to the charity's work.

Northwich's Liam has shown dedication to his role, in spite of the challenges his heart condition and learning difficulties can sometimes present.

Not only does he look after the menswear and media departments, but customers also love his 'warm and friendly manner'.

Northwich Guardian:

Shop manager retail manager Clare O’Connor nominated Liam for an 'Incredible Colleagues' award in recognition of these achievements, which help support Sue Ryder’s palliative, neurological and bereavement care.

Clare said: “I nominated Liam for an Incredible Colleagues Award as I think it’s about time he gets recognition for his nine years of unfaltering volunteering and dedication.

"If you cut him in half it would say Sue Ryder through and through. He is a well-loved member of the team, with both staff and customers alike, and we can’t thank him enough.”

More than 11,000 volunteers across the country help Sue Ryder provide palliative, neurological and bereavement care.
