MOBBERLEY Neighbourhood Watch is seeking support for a £1,000 appeal aimed at promoting the initiative prominently in the village through signs.

The aim is to deter criminals from targeting the village by advertising the fact they are entering an area where the community has come together to keep an eye out for each other and each other’s properties.

Each sign will cost £10.90, and the recently-launched group would like to buy 50 to place in strategic locations around the village.

The additional £450 would be used for the costs of producing and distributing hard copy newsletters to those people who do not have email or social media capabilities and other stationary costs associated with the group, including window stickers.

Group co-ordinator Bob Marshall said: “The community’s support is vital and very gratefully received if the campaign is to grow and prosper.”

The group has set up an online donations page, which has raised £355 towards the £1,000 target, any anyone who would like to support the appeal can visit gofundme.com/f/w5gvtw-neighbourhood-watch
