BUSES and cars were diverted after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge in Prenton.
Police were called to Woodchurch Road shortly after 7pm on Wednesday to reports that the lorry had crashed into a railway bridge near the ASDA supermarket.
It is believed that the lorry drove under the bridge before crashing, leaving debris from the lorry and bridge lying in the road.
The lorry did not get stuck, but pictures on social media showed parts of the roof had been ripped off.
There were no injuries.
Following a bridge inspection by Network Rail and Wirral Council, the road was reopened to traffic at 9.20pm.
