KNUTSFORD In Bloom volunteers and Knutsford Town Council are celebrating North West in Bloom success.

The town won the highly sought-after Gold Award in the North West In Bloom competition for the fourth year running, as well as 2019’s Best Commercial Effort award.

Knutsford Town Council works in partnership with volunteer group Knutsford in Bloom to provide beautiful floral displays around the town.

Many planters and hanging baskets are maintained around the town by the Knutsford in Bloom group, who worked tirelessly alongside the Knutsford Town Ranger to prepare stunning displays around the town ahead of the competition judging day in July.

The group, which was formed in 2009, is made up of a dozen volunteers and welcomes new members.

Town Mayor Cllr Andrew Malloy and three volunteers from Knutsford in Bloom travelled to Southport on November 1 for the awards ceremony, not knowing until it was announced how Knutsford had faired.

They accepted the awards for Gold in the Large Town category and the award for Best Commercial Effort which recognises the effort of the local business community to support the In Bloom campaign with floral displays.

Mayor Cllr Andrew Malloy said: “I was delighted to attend the North West In Bloom awards on Friday with three volunteer members of Knutsford in Bloom.

“We were all delighted that Knutsford won the Best Commercial Effort award very early in the ceremony, a true credit to all the hard work and investment our business community put into the Floral Walk around RHS Tatton week and other displays through the year.

“It was also a pleasure to receive our fourth Gold award for Knutsford, something all the volunteers and the town council have worked hard for.”
