A POIGNANT reminder of Northwich’s contribution to the First and Second World Wars has received glowing praise.
A window display at Co-op Funeralcare Northwich, in London Road, depicts a soldier kneeling before a grave among the poppies – with his features replaced by names of those who left the town never to return.
Rachel Holland, who works at the funeral directors, said: “I was thinking about how to connect Remembrance to Northwich, and how to make it resonate with people in the town.
“When I was doing the research I was really shocked by just how many Northwich soldiers died in the two world wars.
“The response has been really positive, and it’s nice to see how many people can connect to it.”
Northwich’s Remembrance Sunday parade sets off from Crum Hill at 9.45am towards St Helen Witton Church.
