A VAN was torched near the Anderton Boat Lift early this morning, Wednesday.
Police officers are appealing for information after firefighters were called to Marbury Road shortly after 12.30am.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Shortly after 12.30am firefighters from Northwich were dispatched to reports of a vehicle fire on the car park near to the Anderton Boat Lift.
"On arrival at the scene the crews discovered a van which was well alight.
"One firefighter, wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
"The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 558088."
