THE Cottons Hotel and Spa has transformed its fitness facility with £180,000 worth of investment, bringing the ‘next generation of gyms’ to Knutsford.

The four-star hotel has revamped the gym floor and upgraded its exercise equipment to Technogym.

Launched officially on Monday with an open event at Cottons, the £180,000 gym investment takes the total spending on the hotel’s revamped spa and fitness facilities to more than half a million pounds.

The announcement of a new gym, which includes state-of-the-art treadmills, rowing machines and elliptical cross trainers, comes less than a year after £350,000 was spent upgrading the entire pool hall, relaxation lounge and changing rooms.

The sauna, steam room and monsoon shower were also refurbished by The House of Daniel Thwaites, the Lancashire brewer and hotelier which owns Cottons Hotel and a collection of spa hotels and inns across the UK.

More than £1.5million has been invested in The House of Daniel Thwaites’ six spas in recent years.

General Manager at Cottons Hotel and Spa, Steve Ogden opened the new gym with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

He said: “Health and fitness trends are ever-evolving, but what we’ve noticed is a rise in people wanting to be more active generally, and to achieve a consistent feeling of health and wellness.

“It’s important that our spa and fitness facilities match up to these trends so we can retain our loyal customers and attract the next generation of fitness users.”

The Technogym investment comes during National Spa Week, which Cottons and other hotels from The House of Daniel Thwaites collective will celebrate by targeting workplace wellness.
