THROUGHOUT this year we will be dipping into the wedding albums of Warrington couples who have tied the knot and finding out more about the happiest day of their life.

NAMES: Beth and David Richards

Ages: 29 and 38

Location: Penketh

Where did you meet?

We met in May 2015 at The Ferry Tavern in Penketh. The Ferry is David’s local and I just went in as a one-off for a drink with my mum and her partner.

It was 100% love at first sight. We hit it off straight away and the rest was history. We soon moved in together.

How did he propose?

We got engaged on the stage at Glastonferry music festival which was also at the Ferry Tavern in Penketh.

David was working there as the stage manager on the day.

Towards the end of the night, the DJ Dave Sweetmore asked David to come on stage to say a few words about the event.

The DJ asked if they could meet his girlfriend and if she would come on stage too.

I had no idea what was about to happen but when I went onto the stage David asked me to hold the microphone and got down on one knee in front of 2,000 festival goers.

I said yes and we got a massive applause. The DJ invited everyone to the wedding as well but I think they realised that was a joke!

The wedding:

We got married on August 22, 2019 at St Mary’s church in Great Sankey followed by a reception at Oliver’s restaurant in Penketh.

Our wedding was perfect.

The whole day was relaxed and ran smoothly from start to finish despite all of my worrying on the last week or so before the day.

I spent most of the day getting ready at my mum's house with all of my bridesmaids. It was a really happy and chilled out day.

Unfortunately the groom's parents had to run to the church and luckily managed to get there in the nick of time because they don’t live too far away from the church.

The wedding car forgot to pick them up so that was a bit of a disaster. It was obviously a bit stressful for them but all was ok once they arrived and the service went ahead straight after.

Because our wedding service was at 5pm we were warned by the church of the importance of arriving on time because of an old law that is still in place states you must be married before 6pm.

Favourite memories from the day:

Getting ready, walking into the church and seeing David at the end of the aisle was such an amazing feeling.

I loved seeing all of our wonderful friends and family and having them all there to share the moment.

Our wedding dance was great fun too - we had such a laugh.

The day was made a little bit more special for me as my friends managed to bring my lovely horse Lily for a picture who is a big part of my life so obviously this was a wonderful moment as well.

The honeymoon:

We went to Portugal for our honeymoon a couple of days after the wedding.

It was lovely. We had such a nice time together and had a chance to take it all in.

Our relationship:

We’re both fun-loving people, we like to have a laugh and socialise with friends in our spare time.

We are also both keen outdoors people.

David loves to play golf and usually enters competitions most weekends and I’m a massive horse lover and spend a lot of my time outside in the mud with them.

We usually meet back up afterwards mid-afternoon after playing outside all day. This is why we get on so well!

We wanted to get married because we love each other so much and wanted to make a strong commitment to one another and also to celebrate our love.
